Island Wool - English
Should you ever happen to be on the northernmost island of Germany, on Sylt, and you are looking for a yarn or wool shop which is as original and natural as the island's nature itself, go to Morsum! Accidentally, I ran into a wool shop this time whereas last time I only found one other yarn shop which I did not like at all.
This little wool place reflects the purity of the island's nature much better:

Here you can find handspun wool from Sylt sheep. When we started our walk and discovered the place, the very polite elderly woman sold me the first two hanks. On our walk, seeing loads of sheep, I decided to purchase two more hanks. So, two hours later, I visited the place again. Now the elderly man sold me the hanks desired. He is the "boss" who spins the wool and was a real funny, North German guy. He had already heard about us and our purchase made earlier that morning from his wife. :)
I am planning to use the wool for very warm winter socks! The wool shop is located in Morsum in a street called Serkwai. See Google Maps.

Falls irgendwer von Euch mal auf Deutschland's nördlichster Insel, auf Sylt, sein sollte und Ihr dort ein Wollgeschäft sucht, das genauso urig und natürlich ist wie die Natur der Insel, dann lege ich Euch Morsum ans Herz. Zufällig begegnete mir dieses Mal ein Woll-Lädchen wohingegen ich letztes Mal nur einen anderen Laden fand, den ich aber gar nicht mochte.
Dieses kleine Lädchen spiegelt die Unberührtheit der Natur auf der Insel viel besser wider:

Hier findet man handgesponnene Wolle von Sylter Schafen. Am Anfang unseres Spazierganges, als wir den Ort entdeckten, verkaufte mir die äußerst freundliche ältere Dame die ersten 2 Stränge. Auf unserem Spaziergang, wir sahen viele Schafe, entschloss ich mich, 2 weitere Stränge zu kaufen. So kam es, dass ich zwei Stunden später wieder dort war. Nun bekam ich die 2 weiteren gewünschten Stränge von dem älteren Herrn. Er ist der "Chef", der die Wolle spinnt und ein echt lustiger, norddeutscher Typ. Unser Einkauf früher am Morgen hatte sich schon rumgesprochen, seine Frau hatte ihm schon von uns berichtet. :)

Die Wolle soll für sehr warme Winter Socken sein! Das Lädchen befindet sich in Morsum in der Straße namens Serkwai. Siehe: Google Maps.

Mum's "Pretty As A Peacock", my new project

This is my mother's "Pretty As A Peacock" (Jae Koscierzynski) with "Hamburger Wollfabrik Merino Extrafein 4-ply" yarn in bordeaux and Toho Rocailles 8/0 no. 85. My mum knitted it. It's soooo beautiful. I love the look of half-round shawls anyway but now I have seen this great "Peacock ..." in person. Wearing it is a pleasure. My mum will add a closure for the neck as well as a collar. I will show all this later!


And this is my new shawl based on Nancy Bush's Lily of the Valley Shawl in Lace Style. However, I am knitting it a little bit differently ... It is a LOVExperiment Shawl (LOV for Lilly Of the Valley ;) ).

Dies ist das "Pretty As A Peacock" Tuch (Jae Koscierzynski) mit "Hamburger Wollfabrik Merino Extrafein 4-fädig" in bordeaux und Toho Rocailles 8/0 no. 85. Meine Mutter hat es gestrickt. Es ist sooo wunderschön. Ich liebe das Aussehen von halb-runden Tüchern sowieso, aber jetzt habe ich diesen schönen "Pfau" "in Echt" gesehen. Es zu tragen ist ein Vergnügen. Meine Mutter wird noch einen Verschluss am Hals anbringen sowie einen Kragen. Das alles werde ich später noch zeigen!


Und dies ist mein neues Tuch basierend auf Nancy Bush's Lily of the Valley Shawl (Maiglöckchen-Tuch) in Lace Style. Allerdings stricke ich es etwas anders ... Es ist ein LOVExperiment Tuch (LOV für Lilly Of the Valley ;) ).

May Knitting meeting

Here is a picture of our May knitting meeting (go to our yahoo group for more). Anja's grey socks with the cable pattern look so wonderful and felt so soft to the touch. Of course, Lotte's socks with the wave pattern in different colours is fascinating as well. Christiane wore her new red summer top. We had a lot of fun again!

Hier ist ein Fotos unseres Stricktreffens im Mai (siehe auch unsere Yahoo Gruppe). Anja's graue Socken mit dem Zopfmuster sehen sooo toll aus und fühlten sich so schön weich an (Notiz an mich ;) -> Lana Grossa meilenweit Soja Sockenwolle). Natürlich sind auch Lotte's Socken mit dem Wellenmuster in verschiedenen Farben bezaubernd schön. Christiane trug ihr neues rotes Sommertop. Wir hatten wieder viel Spaß!
